Our founder, Beau Correll, recently sat down with host Brian Thomas on The Digital Executive, a podcast from Coruzant Technologies that features business leaders talking about technology and how it is changing their work. The episode, “Beau Correll: AI, Advocacy, and the Future of Law” (Episode 1330), was released on October 13, 2026.
It is a relaxed, wide-ranging conversation, and we think it gives a good picture of who Beau is and how our firm approaches the people we serve. Here are a few highlights.
From an Office Above a Coffee Shop
The conversation starts where the firm started. Beau opened Correll Law Firm in 2009 in a small office above a coffee shop in Old Town Winchester, with modest savings and secondhand furniture. He talks about what it took to build a practice from that first room and how the firm grew into a team serving clients from offices in Winchester and Harrisonburg.
Beau also explains how his path through the courtroom shaped him. He began as a Virginia prosecutor, later worked as a criminal defense attorney, and then focused on personal injury law. That experience on different sides of the courtroom shaped how he advocates for injured clients today and how he approaches holding insurance companies accountable.
Putting Empathy Into How a Firm Runs
A big part of the episode is about something that does not always get talked about in law: client communication. Beau discusses why it matters so much to someone who is hurting, may be out of work, and is worried about bills, and why empathy has to be built into how a law firm operates, not left to chance. For our team, that means returning calls, explaining each step in plain language, and keeping clients informed from the first conversation to the last.
What AI Means for Law, and What It Doesn’t
The second half of the conversation turns to artificial intelligence. Beau predicts that AI tools will increasingly help with legal research, claims evaluation, and parts of settlement negotiation. He also sees clear limits. In his view, courtroom advocacy, human judgment, and the trust between a client and their lawyer will remain essential.
His message to other attorneys is practical: use AI responsibly, protect client confidentiality, keep a human reviewing the work, and keep sharpening the skills that technology cannot easily replace. For clients, the takeaway is simple. New tools may make some tasks faster, but your case still deserves people who know you and your story.
